Endoscopic Sinus Surgery of Ethmoid Mucocele

Abstract
Mucoceles of the paranasal sinuses are chronic, expansile, and cyst-like lesions. They contain sterile mucoid secretions and are limited by the mucosa of the affected cavity. Most of the mucoceles are found in the frontal sinus and ethmoid sinus,
and
their treatment can be achieved only by means of surgery. Only ethmoid mucocele is relatively uncommon and is usually discussed as part of the more general frontoethmoidal lesion.
Functional endoscopic surgery affords the potential for dramatically reducing operative morbidity of surgery for paranasal sinus mucoceles by offering a minimal invasive approach under local anesthesia.
Recently, authors experienced a case of mucocele of the left ethmoid sinus accompanying with exophthalmos and diplopia, which was successfully drained with endoscopic approach. After surgery, direct visualization of the area enabled accurate
follow-up.
